“
guiding principles
Biobanking would not be possible without the valuable donations from participants. All of my work is guided by that statement. We owe it to participants to communicate with them clearly, respect their choices and use their valuable donation in a responsible and ethical manner.
About Me
helena ellis
I began my career in human subjects research nearly 30 years ago...before HIPAA and before the word 'biobank' was ever spoken. At that time, there were no published 'biobanking best practices' to guide our work. I'm proud to say that I have been part of the International Society of Biological and Environmental Repositories (ISBER) community since it's inception and am a contributor to ISBER's 2023R epository's Best Practices publication. I’m also a member of the College of American Pathologist’s Biorepository Accreditation Program Committee.
